Reflection

The task was to balance objects of the body without holding it, and do it with pairs. This was a fun thing to do, working with others and talking about what we objects we should use. I enjoyed this so much because I like figuring out photo concepts, and how it should be taken. The some of the objects that are used have the colour red in it, because it stands out so much from the white background. The red draws the eyes in, and it makes the photos look more interesting than just whites and blacks as the only colour. As much as I like the end result, I think better lighting would amplify it more. The lighting that is accessible is alright, but a bit dull for my liking.

Now looking back at this project, I've realised something. The choices that I've made for this project were very plain and to the point. I remember a tutor called the finished result "Boring", and it made me feel very irritated. I didn't think that it was boring at the time, but now I see their point.

What I would change;

Incorporate a body. There is one here, though I would use a "model" to create different shapes or create a character. By doing that the body is not just something that is used to balance the object, but very much a part of the presentation.
I would think more about the usage of texture. The objects here are chosen by a whim, and I should have thought more about how each of them play with one another.
Even if the task or prompt is simple, I should always have a strong base concept. The time was very limited, though if it were possible, always think it through first and take the time to curate an idea. The foundation needs to be ripe.
